Tallahassee, Florida – On July 22nd Governor Desantis responded to the statement recently issued by the radical leftist company, Ben & Jerry’s indicating that they will no longer sell their ice cream in territories supposedly ‘occupied’ by Israel. The areas of Judea and Samaria are home to Palestinians and are in part controlled by the Israeli government pursuant to the 1993 Oslo accords.
In response to the company’s decision, Desantis has sent an open letter to the State Board of Administration of Florida. The letter instructs the Board to place Ben and Jerry’s and their public parent company, Unilever, on the state’s ‘Continued Examination Companies That Boycott Israel List’. The head of state has also instructed the Board to immediately place Unilever on the ‘Scrutinized Companies That Boycott Israel List.
It is unclear at this time what exactly these lists entail. However, the letter does indicate that the state government will no longer be buying any shares of Unilever. The state government likely controls billions of dollars in pension accounts and other investments, which are generally composed of stocks within the stock market. If Desantis does go through with his plan to divest from Unilever because of their racist and despicable actions, it would be an appropriate response to the popular leftist ‘Boycott, Divest, & Sanction’ movement that the progressives have been waging against Israel for years. Eventually, these progressives may leave Florida and other conservative states or they may simply be kicked out of those states. The separation is inevitable.
The Israeli government sent a letter to 35 governors asking them to respond to the recent decision by the leftist ice cream company. To our knowledge, none have responded. Some Republican congressmen have condemned the actions by Ben & Jerry’s, but they are unlikely to do anything of importance in retaliation. Congresswoman Malliotakis did comment in an interview with Fox Business that “I think it’s really important that Americans here send a message to Ben & Jerry’s by not buying their ice cream, quite frankly.”
Desantis has also been acting as the leader of an independent state when it comes to corona-fascism. The Governor said Tuesday that Florida schools will have “No mandates for anything…I think it’s very unfair for some of the youngest kids who are the least susceptible, least likely to spread it, that they have the mitigation imposed on them more severely than a lot of adults do.” Upon hearing that the federal government is planning to issue a mandate that all children under 12 throughout the united states must wear masks next year at school, Desantis promptly said that such a mandate will not exist in Florida, and said that “we need our kids to breathe.”
Does Desantis have the power to do this? He isn’t the president!
Actually, he is the president of the State of Florida. If you didn’t have the misfortune of attending government schools, you surely know that ‘state’ is literally a synonym with ‘country’, and always has been. Also, States were independent nations and agreed to enter into the union called the united states only for a few purposes, such as interstate trade and military defense, not to be controlled by DC. Of course, over the past 240 years, the statists in DC have taken full control over all of our lives, causing millions of Texans, Californians, Floridians, and many others to once again yearn for independence from the tyrannical central government.
Is Governor Desantis finally realizing that DC will not save Florida? Does he understand that a divorce between the increasingly conservative Florida and the increasingly Marxist federal union is inevitable? Maybe he is beginning to and maybe this is his first act of many as the Head of State and Commander in Chief of Florida.
