Senate Bill 154 is currently being deliberated in the judiciary committee of the NH Senate. If the bill ultimately passes, it would prohibit state and local police from enforcing any Presidential Executive Order that restricts or regulates the right of people to keep and bear arms. A proposed amendment to the bill would expand it to also nullify state enforcement of gun control passed via federal legislation.

This makes New Hampshire one of several states to present local legislation to restrict federal controls on gun rights. Similar bills have been introduced in Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, South Dakota, West Virginia, and other states. Wyoming, Idaho, South Dakota, Missouri, Kansas, and Arizona have already passed various laws nullifying federal gun control within their states.

SB154 is a critical bill that we should not lose sight of and your state senators and the judiciary committee need to know about your strong support for this legislation. In fact, they’re all desperately waiting to hear from you!

The second amendment is not only essential to our founding, but also to our way of life in New Hampshire. It should not be left open to abuse by executive orders from the District of Columbia.

We have one of the lowest violent crime rates in the country and this is not due to oppressive gun laws. It’s due to our constitutional-carrying, liberty-loving, self-sufficient culture, that’s unique to our state.

We’d like to keep things this way and we have a right to defend this way of life. It’s not necessary nor practical to subject New Hampshire citizens to the same laws as violent metropolitan areas in this county.

I hope our state representatives and senators understand this and I encourage my fellow citizens to send them reminders of why they should support SB-154.  Call and write ‘em!

UPDATE: SB154 passed the Senate and House but died in Committee of Conference due to fear that it was poisoned.
