On Friday, August 5th, over 300 pro-liberty Granite Staters gathered at the Kingswood Art Center in Wolfeboro, NH for The Resolve Initiative Candidate Debates. Twenty candidates attended to introduce themselves to the audience. The six-hour event included debates for the races that had more than one candidate.
Libertarians have long believed that peaceful separation is the easy and obvious solution for our severe political disagreements. Let me share with my non-libertarian friends how we might voluntarily choose to restructure into new countries.
“Alu, secession is not necessary. We all just need to chill out and get along with our neighbors. We have so much more in common than we realize. We are one country! We are all Americans! Our values and goals are the same, we just differ on some tiny inconsequential issues.”
You’ve surely seen the countless headlines by now. And if you are one of the millions of individuals who consumes their news via headlines or short video clips, you surely know that the voters of the conservative state of Kansas just voted by an overwhelming majority to support abortion from any restrictions. But is that really what happened?
Time for some cold hard brutal honesty. To the minority of New Hampshire Republicans who do not yet support peaceful separation from DC politicians, have you thought about what it would take to shake you from your slumber and make you realize that secession is literally our only option if we want our children to have the same liberties we had?
When asked whether NH should secede today, 29% said yes, 14% were unsure, and only 58% said that we should not leave the union today. Among Republicans, 52% want to secede today, only 11% are unsure, and only 38% said that we should remain in the union.
The Fourth of July celebrates the formal adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Celebrating independence is a particularly wholesome element of American culture – one in line with most of the traditional American holidays. As an American, we should take pride especially in our independence – but also in our other traditional holidays.
On July 1st, MSNBC published an article titled ‘Congress has let the Supreme Court run amok’. In the article, the writer argues that the Supreme Court has grown out of control and is far too powerful and that the founders would have been shocked by the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade. Did the SCOTUS overstep its authority with this ruling? Are they taking power away from state and federal lawmakers?
On June 23rd, the Supreme Court ruled in NYSRPA v. Bruen that New York’s prohibition on carrying firearms and their restrictive permitting process was unconstitutional. The New York law stated that it was a felony for a person to carry a handgun without a license, and a person could only obtain a license if the government gang members (politicians) felt that the applicant could “demonstrate a special need for self-protection distinguishable from that of the general community.”
Since legislation in support of New Hampshire independence was filed last fall, support for peaceful separation from DC has flourished. While CACR32 did not pass the legislature, the outpouring of support for independence from the disastrous union controlled by DC has only continued to pick up steam.
